Michael and Lorel are delighted to welcome you to their home, the Grade I listed Higher Melcombe Manor. Melcombe nestles in its own beautiful valley in the heart of Dorset, with far reaching views over fields and woodland and in the middle of its own estate. The approach is by a private road along an avenue of lime trees, then under the magnificent copper beech to the garden.
There are three sumptuous double rooms and one single, each with its own ambience - from linenfold panelling and fine plaster ceilings, carefully restored by a local master craftsman - to the new attic rooms on the top floor with the brand new ensuite bathrooms. Follow the link for details. Higher Melcombe Manor is the ideal location for that special weekend, whether you want to explore historic mid-Dorset, tramp the byways of the Wessex Ridgeway to the Dorset Gap - or just relax in front of the fire with a good book. The two acre garden wraps around the house, to south, east and west. Terraces and tables for sunrises and sundowners. Mature herbaceous borders, rolling lawns, lavender, fountain, scented roses and clematis climb the stone walls of the old chapel. Lots of little walks and benches dotted around to sit and think - or just to sit. |
