We now have three raised beds and, despite no watering system
and no rain, have already enjoyed peas, onions, carrots, spuds, French beans,
runner beans, and lovely, lovely lettuce! What a joy to pick the salad just
before supper. Well done again, Toni. |

We were delighted with both our NGS days. Balmy weather each Sunday, and many visitors
enjoyed tea and homemade cakes in the garden. We raised over £1,100 for NGS,
and £540 for our chosen charity The Weldmar Trust. Our thanks to all the team
who generously gave up their time to help for these good causes: Monica &
Dave, Wendy & Bob, Ann, and of course Toni our amazing gardener, who put in
all the work beforehand! |

Higher Melcombe Manor is the perfect place to make or renew your vows
- wedding or civil ceremony, and for Naming Ceremonies. The Great
Hall, with its unique bow ceiling, gallery, tapestries and stained
glass windows, gives just the right atmosphere for special occasions:
both welcoming and dignified - ideal for lunches and dinners too.
Higher Melcombe Manor received its License for Civil Ceremonies in
2009 - so, if you'd like to get married and are searching for a
venue, then please call. (Speak to Lorel on 01258 880251 to arrange your
big day.)
We are booked until the end of September
2010, and all of August 2011, but do get in touch for other
dates. Civil Ceremonies (1 hour without reception) from £440 to tie the knot in a special setting... otherwise day hire from £1000 |

On 30th November, Alfie celebrated his first birthday in the company of friends. He's now officially grown up. His foot fetish, though, remains
undimmed and we shall shortly be opening an account with Prada to
replace guests' shoes. Or perhaps at Jimmy Choo?

Higher Melcombe enjoyed its fair share of snow in January and March 2009 - a bit of a surprise for Alfie, our new lurcher puppy! |
